The 5 Elements
The Ancient Chinese Metaphysics classifies all things in the universe under 5 Elements, Metal (金）, Wood (木）, Water (水）, Fire (火） and Earth(土). This 5 Element theory is to help us understand the Universal order of our world.
It does not mean that things are made of one of these 5 elements, but rather, has the nature of a particular element, based on its properties and characteristics. The 5 elements are dynamic, they are energies in constant motion. They interact in 2 fundamental ways, either generation or restraint.

We interact with each other and our environment in more ways than we are aware of and the inter-connected relationships can be explained through the 5 Elements Theory. Based on our Eight Characters ( 八字), all of us are strong in certain elements while lacking in others. Through our activities and interactions, we either achieve a balance or further tilt the imbalance.
