Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who's the baddest of them all? 

Of all the negative flying stars that cause harmful afflictions, the 5 Yellow (五黄) is the most ominous.

Often known as the Disaster or Catastrophic Star, it is capable of causing serious hiccups in life such as serious illnesses and major financial setbacks if activated.

People often hunt down and focus on suppressing the 5 Yellow in their home or office to avoid unnecessary grave misfortunes.

Every often, accidents/catastrophic events have happened in the sector where 5 Yellow Star is located. As an example, in 2023, the 5 Yellow star was in the North-West sector, based on the commonly recognized official world atlas. It is where North America is situated. This means that the 5 Yellow Star energy is stronger in a bigger context as compared to the NW sector of a country or NW of a home. 

Last year was the worst year in that region, causing historic damages because of natural disasters.

Some might argue it as coincidence, or worsening climate change impact. But in 2022 was NOT worse than 2021, and 2021 was NOT worse than 2020 (see that data and stats from the website cited above). There is seemingly an underlying pattern that caused the huge spike in extreme events. It is best to understand it and err on the side of caution by knowing how to reduce its impact.

5 Yellow star is the not so little star among the 9 flying stars that form the Big Dipper in Ursa Major constellation. The proper official Chinese name of 5 Yellow is 廉贞星. 

The number 5 is of the Earth element and in the centre location of the Luo Shu. Based on Ba Gua aka 8 trigram, all the 8 directions are represented by a certain family member. But at the centre (9th location), means it can affect every occupant. That's why it is the most aggressive.  

Since it is of an earth element, we do not want to nourish it with further Fire and Earth element. 

Water will trigger it and set the bad energy in motion. That's why my advice is not to place their water feature (fountains, paintings of water features etc). 

Only Metal element will be able to suppress the impact of 5 Yellow. Some might argue that Wood can also attack and destroy Earth element, but it is certainly not advisable as the Earth element will retaliate and cause more harm than good.

The rule of the thumb is best to leave the sector that 5 Yellow is located as peaceful and quiet as possible and with minimal activity,  so that you do not activate this unlucky aggressive star. This means that things like TV, sub-woofer, clock etc should not be placed there.

For the Year of the Dragon, No 5 Disaster Star will be located in the West sector of your house/office. Go check out that sector and make the necessary adjustments if needed.
